"Can't Top These Tapas" Magazine Layout

Desiging a magazine spread has by far been my favorite design project, due to my passion for magazines in general.

After visitng Madrid in November of 2014, I had compiled an assortment of rich, powerful images of tapas and other Spanish foods. Although the article is made up, the photos are real. I was inspired by those bold colors--of jamon, sangria, and other breads topped in deslicious bites--to focus in on maroon and yellow that were both pulled from the opening spread image.

Through contrasting fonts--an all caps bolded font and an accented thick, script--I hoped to emulate the feelings of hunger, desire of tastebuds and the feel of the lively bar settings that tapas are served in. Repetition was also used through the duplicated circle used as a way to bring in more images of food and to tie in captions as an additional element.
