EDITING EXPERIENCE
Below are samples of publications I have edited for. Outside of my copyediting and proofreading experience at internships, these publications are ones I took a larger part in.
Elephant Magazine is the University of Minnesota's SJMC Magazine Production capstone publication of spring semester 2016. The publication is about "Confronting the elephants in the room," by means of bringing light to conversations that are often shied away from. As Co-Editor-in-Chief I took a leadership role in the development of the idea for the publication as well as content edited and proofread the publication in its entirety.
The Wake Magazine is a fortnightly, student-operated publication at the University of Minnesota that covers news, opinion, arts and entertainment happening on and around campus. As the Executive Director, I was focused on maintaining The Wake’s image and brand while upholding journalistic integrity. In terms of editing, I did page proofs on each issue of the magazine with a focus on overall layout design. Below is one of the 24 issues I worked on during my time as Executive Director.
Catcall is an online magazine about what it means to be a woman in today’s society. Through personal reflections, investigation of social norms and creative writing, it seeks to start a conversation about feminism. As the founder, Editor-in-Chief, and a contributing writer, I assign stories, content and copy edit all incoming work, publish articles to the website and function as the face of the blog.
